Studio Facilities

The studio and office facilities of Art Phillips, Art Phillips Music Design, is located in Balmain, NSW, a suburb of Sydney Australia, being just 12 minutes drive from the heart of the city centre.

The facility is geared to work with vision and has the ability to synchronise to video and deliver final master sound recordings to vision in timecoded Dat format, CD or on 1/4” tape. The studio is fully balanced with star earthing.

The facility was set up as a working environment for Art Phillips, composer for feature films, television drama series, documentary soundtracks, production library projects, corporate / advertising scores as well as record / CD productions.  The facility is occasionally rented out for hire when time permits between projects being composed and produced by Art.

The heart of the studio is MacIntosh platform with Mark Of The Unicorns Digital Perfomer as the midi sequencing and digital audio recording base.  The recording console is a 108 channel DDA (DMR 12) analogue environment and the studio has three Sony PCM-800 / 8 track digital multi-track tape machines.  The monitoring system is a matched pair of Genelec 1031A’s  and the studio is equipped with an arsenal of synths, samplers, percussion modules, keyboards, state of the art outboard effects processors and a large array of electric and acoustic guitars.

The audio room is set out with solid wood grain custom built furniture which includes one large work table, one long side bench work with 3 angled rack units for outboard gear, 2 synth module racks and 3 keyboard drawers.  The hard drives are encased in a sound proof environment and the digital multi-track tape machines are rack mounted and housed in solid timbre with a glass front door. The floor is floating wood parquet. 

The office is separate from the audio room where every day business functions are carried out.
